Year-End Charitable Support to Your Organization
With Thanksgiving and Christmas ahead, now is a great time to remind supporters about your endowment fund’s presence and impact in our shared communities. If your organization’s fiscal year ends in December, consider sending a year-end letter in early December.

We recommend a short handwritten note added to the bottom of the letter to personalize the communication. Visit InFaith’s Endowment Marketing Toolkit to find a year-end letter sample that you can send to supporters.

Tax Advantages for Supporters of Your Organization
For those who itemize charitable deductions on their income tax return, have a taxable estate, or wish to avoid passing on assets that would require heirs to pay income tax, a gift to an endowment fund may provide tax advantages.

Donors can use the amount of the income tax charitable deduction to purchase a life insurance contract to replace the amount of their gift for their family heirs. Donors can also realize even greater tax savings by giving an appreciated capital asset instead of cash because this allows them to avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation.

By supporting the endowment fund, supporters act as stewards to and for the organization. And by using the income generated by the endowment to fulfill its mission, your organization acts as a steward to and for your supporters and the community.
