Inspired by her personal experience and her undergraduate career in Psychology, WomenLead Scholarship recipient Christina Richardson plans to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker through her upcoming Master’s education at Howard University this fall.

“Service has always been something ingrained into the fabric of my life,” Christina says. “Helping people makes the community better and spreads God’s love. I know we have to be agents of love in the world in order for it to change.”

After receiving her degree, Christina plans to focus her career on family and marriage in the black community. With a goal of starting a private therapy practice, she intends to gain insight on the current norms in parenting styles, directly address issues and build up communication techniques with black families.

“I hope to further engage with the community through partnerships with various city and nonprofit organizations, such as collaborating with the D.C. government to create programs including free community parenting and resource classes in predominantly black neighborhoods,” says Christina.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she has demonstrated continued service to her community, most recently by distributing masks, toiletries and meals at a local men’s shelter.

“Thank you for creating this amazing opportunity to help women dedicated to service,” Christina says. “This contribution towards my education means so much to me. Please continue to give more opportunities for women of God to be a blessing to others through our works.”

The Chris Andersen WomenLead Scholarship recognizes the need for diverse leadership in ministry, nonprofits and civic organizations and seeks to accelerate the extraordinary leadership of diverse women of faith to lead change by using their talents to educate, advocate and activate.

Through InFaith, donors have the opportunity to create their own scholarship fund, make a grant to InFaith’s Field of Interest Fund in Education from their InFaith donor advised fund or give directly to their church’s InFaith Endowment Fund.
